Probably one of the graphics hack uses a weird X command, like
ellipsis, that is otherwise never used, and triggers a bug in the X
server. So you could try to find out whether it's a specific mode that
actually triggers it.
BTW I have the same graphics card, but I don't dare testing it right
now :)
