Bingo, Jay. Almost like you know something about it. :-)

The card I took out has two very nice IBM chips (one very pretty, green-
blue one with an offset chip in the middle -- quite nice), and the main
chip is, lo and behold, Cirrus.

At this point, the Matrox card is being probed successfully, but I think I
failed to install the XF86_SVGA stuff originally, because when I probe and
then try X, I get:

   Server doesn't exist, can't continue.

tried to use ../../usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA

I take it this means that I've got to suck these libraries down?

If I'm right, I'll get this working yet. And I've got about 12 other of
these machines to play with, so I'll try the text install with 7.1 to see
if that goes better with the powerstorm cards.
