I believe that this makes a lot of business sense. They won't have to tie
up tech support for desktop calls that most of the time can be resolved by
pointing the user to the appropriate "How-To", so they can spend their
effort on the end of the business that actually makes money, and keeps them
in business.
Also, there are bunches of RedHat knock-off, including Mandrake,
that should gladly take up the slack there. There is really a lot
of variety and choice out there.
