Hello,
while it seems that quite a few people here would like to see Yarrow on
their Alphas, I have decided that "Fedora Core" is not for me. I run
servers, so I need a lifecycle a little longer than a year - and a different
errata policy, too: Fedora intends to always upgrade to the new version of
the package with a problem. No backports as Red Hat used to do them.
I then stumbled over
http://www.fedora.us/wiki/FedoraLegacy
which is the provisional home of a project very much in the phase of "early
orientation", albeit some members are from the original Fedora team and
therefore have quite some experience in this kind of effort.
I have joined FedoraLegacy and will try and help supporting RH7.2 and
RH7.3 - with my main goal of being able to rebuild the errata for RH7.2AXP
and Aurora SPARC Linux (RH7.3 ported to sparc). Anybody else who would like
to keep his/her Enigma on Alpha alive? Then please join in. Mailing list and
archive are under
https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-legacy-list
See you on FedoraLegacy!
Cheers,
Ingo
P.S. And the best of luck to the people with Yarrow on Alpha, too!
