My best guess would be that these data are called "an existing
BSD type partition table".
If you are not certain what you managed to write there then zero out
first two disk sectors (in the way like it was posted previously) and
make sure that after that you wrote a decent partition table of
"disklabel" type with a space left for an aboot loader. Once you have
that in place you may follow with all other installation steps.
If an installer will write sane aboot.conf for you that is a good
question but if not then fixing that later is not that difficult.
For a good example how such file looks check your first installation
disk although there this file is called aboot.cnf due to iso9660,
without extensions, file system limitations.
