Thanks to all who responded!!
It turns out that sector 1 and 2 need to be available but not partitioned.
I was able to do this in Disk Druid by NOT selecting "new". Instead I
double clicked the free space and created a partition using sectors 1
and 2. I then created the rest of my partitions. Finally as a last
step I deleted the partition that used sectors 1 and 2. This allowed
boot loader to be installed on sectors 1 and 2.
Thanks again!

OK, more details. Disk Druid complained about not enough space at
the beginning of the disk for the boot partition. It says to make sure
it has at least 3 meg free. The disk is a 9gig dec drive (10krpm,
rz1d). I have used the disk for vms and other os's before. Do I
need to do a low level format or something?

Greetings all,
I have a As1200 that I installed the alpha core. Disk Druid
complained about some incompatibility during the install, but the
install completed ok (or so I thought).
The problem, when I try to boot from the disk (dka0 on the ncr 810
csci controller) it complains that there is no boot block.
>>> boot dka0
Can someone give a newbie a hand with the boot command or the docs on
how to do it?
Thanks,
Jim
