Relay Chat script
speechd implements a /dev/speech device -- any plaintext written to this
file is spoken aloud. This is done via the Festival or rsynth speech
synthesis systems.
speech.irc is an ircII script that enables any Internet Relay Chat program
capable of loading ircII scripts to make use of the /dev/speech device.
Both of these can be found at http://www.op.net/~darxus/speech
speechd & speech.irc are both released under the GNU General Public
License.
Using speech.irc with speechd I have successfully communicated while I was
having a migraine that was causing me to be unable to see with a friend
who had just broken his glasses and could not see.
I frequently use them to listen to IRC conversations while I am
programming on another screen.
