Installing from source is way too much work, expecially for a
newbie. Since you are running RH6.0, you should obtain the rpm
archive packages for whatever you need (emacspeak), and install
them using the rpm package manager, with a command similar to the
following:

rpm -ivh <package_name>.rpm

I don't know how to configure emacspeak for your synth. Perhaps
someone on the list can help with that, if you give them any
necessary info about the synth and how (where, what port) it is
installed, or perhaps you could get someone to send you copies of
the documentation so you can figure it out yourself.

Best wishes, LCR

People buy MicroShaft for compatibility, but get incompatibility and
instability instead. This is award winning "innovation". Find
out how MS holds your data hostage with "The *Lens*"; see
"CyberSnare" at http://www.netaction.org/msoft/cybersnare.html
