screader and synths

hi all, i am about to take the plunge into installing linux on my machine. i
have downloaded the source for screader, but have not found the source for
any software synthesisers which take a reasonable time to download (like
under half an hour). therefore, will screader work with a serial synthesiser
like the apollo 2 or like a pc card like the keynote gold card:?
