DEC Alpha

I am setting up a DEC Alpha workstation, and would like a few
opinions on my options. 

First, the question of which version of unix. Right now, the choice
is either Digital True 64 Unix or one of the versions of Linux.
Without starting any os war, is there any reason to go with one or
the other in terms of available apps, ease of use or the ability to
get it working with emacspeak? 

The next question relates to the method of speech. I have a dectalk
PC that i intend to use if possible. Will this work, and if so, how
does one need to install/configure it? If not, what are my other
options for speech? Thanks for the help.
