IBM SVK on Linux

Hi listers.
Does anyone have experience with the IBM SVK.
Is it useful?
And, did anyone manage to get it running on Linux.
E.g. with the ViaVoice OutLoud which is supported by the SVK for Windows.
The IBM Speech API is available for Linux and for the ViaVoice OutLoud, so
it should be theoretically possible.
Any ideas if we can talk to IBM directly so that they will probably release
a Linux version of the SVK.
IMHO many blind people could really benefit from being able to use Java technolo
gies.
Especially because I dont know where to start with development if I am limited t
o the console outputs of Java :).

Other slighly related question:
Is there any effort (Open Source preferably) going on to the
develop a Speech Pluggable Look and Feel, or even a TextMode pluggable look and
feel for Java?
