You are simply incorrect.
(1) I believe lilo can emit a beep when it 8is ready, and even if not:
your BIOS probably already does that right before lilo appears.
(2) Data entry errors? If you type "dos" when you really mean "linux": I
fear data entry is not your largest problem.
(3) The labels do not have to be the name of operating systems. They can
be anything you want, including a single character.
I will say again: due to my strange hardware situation, I no longer use
lilo, but instead use loadlin. However I used lilo quite a bit in the
past (on redhat no less), and it never gave me a bit of trouble, I never
typed a d when I really meant to type an l, and if I made an error, it
simply would not boot until I pressed one of the known options, and this
was known from the fact that the hard drive would not be moving.
