problems logging in with terminal.

Hello to all,
	This is off topic, but please direct all replies to me privately as I
know this topic was discussed a while back on this list. I'm running a
umsdos installation of slackware 4.0 called zipslack. Until I can get my
dectalk working I'm atempting to log in with a terminal. However,
everytime I try to log in as root I'm asked for a password, even though
I've never set one and this is a fresh installation.
Thanks for any advice.
