Emac Editor

Hello all

I am planning to set up a Linux system, currently I am a Windows 98 user.

I have heared about Emacspeak but as far I know Emacs is an editor, now I am
wondering whether emacspeak works with other  programs as well.

I would like (or better I need to be able do to system admin work). But if
Emacspeak just works with the Emac editor, am I depend on a assistent for
system admin or any other work then writing text?

Sorry about this stupid question but am a poor , poor Win 98 user (snile).
