emax speak and other screen readers

I've gbeen watching this debate unfold, and have a kind of stupid question,
but I beleive the stupidest question is the one that isn't asked, so, is it
possible to run both emax speak and speakup on the same system.  I'm
assuming it is because hou're not using the same shells for both.  I could
and probably am wrong, so any info will be appreciated.
