It is possible, but not with the same synthesizer. Speakup takes
over the port in which your synth is connected so emacspeak can't use
it. The solution would be to turn speakup off while running emacspeak with
a software synthesizer like ViaVoice. That, of course, involves getting
your sound card up and running, downloading ViaVoice, and setting it
up. Getting the sound card running isn't the easiest thing to do in linux,
especially if it is plug and play.
