There are several versions of the Infovox speech synthesizer. I remember
reading the technical details several years ago, whilst looking for a
synthesizer that could speak French.

The serial version should be the easiest to set up, although, to my
knowledge, none of the speech access packages yet supports it.
Nevertheless, it should be easy to add the necessary command sequences and
functionality to Emacspeak or one of the other programs.

The version of the Infovox which comprises an ISA card that is installed
into a PC, would probably require the creation of a specialized driver.
