another installation problem

Ok, this time its telling me that I've probably run out of disc space.  The mount point has 30 Mbs even though it only seems to need 23, the swap partition has 1024 MBs because I have 512 Mbs of ram and the main /user partition has just below 9 GBs.  I've asined the mount point as / and the user partition as /user.  these partitions are formated as linux native or something like that.  The swap partition is formatted as a swap.  I have a feeling its talking about the /user partition.  In the howto it says that if everything is selected during the list of applications aproximitly 3.5 GBs should be required.  I thought that about nine GBs would have done it but auviosly something is rong.  Can any one help?  This is driving me mad.

Thanks
