one more problem!

Hello all listers,
I tried to mount a cd rw in my linux box.  But after giving the 
mount /dev/cdrom /root/dirname command the system does not show 
the mounted message and the prompt does not return.  What may be 
the problem.  By the way I have a lg 48x cdrom.
