As best I can tell by now, mkinitrd does not work on fc1. No problem,
modprobe speakup_ltlk in my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file does work. I had to
go in as single user and modprobe speakup_ltlk to get speech going after
login, and spent some time earlier hacking with mkinitrd given the speakup
instructions for the statement in the speakup-HOWTO file and never did
figure out how to get that to work as documented. I'll try that again
with the fc2-speakup-HOWTO when I manage to upgrade the system to fc2
using yum, maybe it will work then.
