Making grub beep at boot time.

HI all.
Is it possible, at the moment, to make grub play a beep sound when 
its menu comes up at boot time?
I googled for it and found that Samuel Tibauld has perhaps solved the problem.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to use the patches I found at
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?14661
Could anybody give me some more explanation?
