IMHO, I'd like to suggest Pine, now available as Alpine under Ubuntu (alpine
comes with a GPL license while Pine does not).

I got the impression from the poster that he was looking for a GUI newsclient, rather than a console-based client, as I believe that Orca'sreading of the console is somewhat less than perfect. But I could bewrong.
