I think you are asking me about audio feedback in grub2. Yes, with grub-pc you can get a beep when the grub menu comes up. On debian unstable, which I am running, you edit /etc/default/grub. Uncomment the line that says 
GRUB_TERMINAL=console

Also uncomment the line that says:

GRUB_INIT_TUNE="480 440 1".
Save the file after making these changes.

Run update-grub.

When you reboot, the graphical interface will be disabled and you will hear a beep when the grub menu comes up.
