The patch is certainly needed, but since it will require changes to
libdevmapper I want to make the change to libdevmapper, kernel 2.4 and
kernel 2.5 at the same time.  We're probably ready to do this now, so
we'll try and get a new release of these 3 bits of software that
*only* makes this change.
