Here's the perl I use, if it's any help to you.
$tidyname =~ s/\.patch//;
$tidyname =~ s/-/ /g;
$tidyname =~ s/(dm( (crypt|delay|exception store|ioctl|io|kcopyd|log|mpath|raid1|snapshot|table|target|request)|))/\1:/;
