Yes I moved my own address book in this manner and it worked just fine.
The only catch is that it doesn't save your address book into the
"Personal Addresses" but rather into the "Collected Addresses" section.
So make sure that the Collected Addresses section is empty before you
import. Then you can just copy all the cards from there and move them
into the Personal Addresses section.
LDIF is a text file format. If you look at the Mozilla Import pop-up at
the very bottom there is a message that states:
"Import an Address Book from a text file. LDIF and comma and tab
delimited formats are supported."
