I have been unable to get my Epson Stylus Color 600 printer
working on Red Hat 7.2.
I have installed Omni-0.5.0-4 and Omni-foomatic-0.5.0-4, updated
to ghostscript-6.51-16, printconf-0.3.52-1, printconf-gui-0.3.52-1
and foomatic-1.1-0.20011018-7 (note: not the -3 cited in the Red
Hat errata page), then run the sequence:
# /sbin/service lpd stop
# rm -rf /var/spool/lpd/*
# rm -rf /var/cache/foomatic/{pcache,compiled}/*
# /usr/sbin/printconf-backend --force-rebuild
# /sbin/service lpd start
When I try to print a test page. I get the message: "There was
an error trying to print the test page". Not a clue as to what
the error is.
I can do a 'cat <file> > or echo "Text" >' to either /dev/lp or
/dev/lp0 and the printer responds, so I know the system is seeing
the printer. Also, this printer works fine in my Mandrake 8.1
partition.
Are there still bugs in printconf?
Any help would be appreciated.
