Hi Steven,
I figured I'd drop a cd in to see if it works on my system. I don't
usually listen to cds on my computer, so I don't know if I've ever
tested this before.
What I find, is that I can't get any _cd_ sound out of the rear (output
2). No matter what I do. So if you are running your speakers out of the
rear channel (output 2, black, not green), as I think you said earlier, I
think that may be why you get no sound.
I do get great sound out of the front, but it seems like the
settings for digital2 and cd effect the sound, and master volume does not
at all.
I think that only some channels are capable of being faded to the rear on
the soundblaster live. This is what I found when I tried to run my tv
tuner into the aux input on the top of the card, I got no surround. I
plugged it into the line-in on the back of the card, and I was able to run
the tv through all four speakers.
I think that you will get cd sound when you find an answer to why you get
no sound out of the front channel of your sound card.
Do you use the front channel to listen to cds under windows? I'm afraid I
can't test this anymore here, as my machine just complains every time I
boot to windows, the only solution is not to boot to windows.
Time to get two sets of earphones, put them both on your head, and play
around with aumix while listening to some mp3s.
Good luck,
Arend
