That's a shame, it shouldn't be a hardware problem if it works under that
other OS.

Did you ever have the thing running under an older version of Redhat?
Perhaps you just have to wait for new drivers or something.

For the time being, you could run a cable from the headphone jack on the
front of your cdrw-drive to the back of your machine. Plug it into
Line-in.

Line-in should be able to be faded to the back set of speakers.
Just make sure you don't turn up the volume control on the drive too high.

I'm sure people would say that you shouldn't run an 'amplified' signal
into line-in. Oh well.

One other thing you might try is unplugging that extra wire you said that
was running from 'reserved' on your cd to SPDIF on your soundcard. I guess
that would be digital sound. I've never used it, because I've never had a
cable for it.

Perhaps Enigma is trying to use the digital port, but not having much
luck. Windows probably just ignores it.
