I had downloaded and compiled the 2.4.16 kernel and activated
it in Red Hat 7.2.  (This identical kernel/module set works
perfectly in Mandrake 8.1.)  I don't know why, but it seems
that the implementation of 'printconf' and the new kernel
don't get along.

When I returned to the stock 2.4.7-10 kernel the printer
interface works fine.

I would like to know what kernel parameter could be the
source of this problem?
