Does the fact that 2.4.17 drives my ATA100 disk about 40% faster than the 
standard RH 2.4.9-13 does suggest the latter has a problem;-)

Would you think your car had a problem if it wouldn't do more than 70 k/h 
while your mate's identical one cruised along at 100k/h?
