I now have LILO running.  I had a case of operator head gap and had screwed the
BIOS for the 2nd HD to NONE instead of AUTO.  Interestingly, the boot disk could
see the drive, LILO could not.

I tried running GRUB as you indicated below and got an error 1 indicating it
couldn't find one of the stage files.

I'll continue to work with GRUB.
