Yes, I have it working here. It wasn't difficult.
I have a spec file and a patch for the config script so that it will use
gcc-2.96 without complaining. If there are issues with gcc-96, I haven't
found them, it builds and runs fine here.
You'll have to grab the source from
ftp://mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/OLD-versions/MPlayer--0.50.tar.bz2
I'll look at updating it for .60 when it is released. (Currently at
0.60pre2)
The patch and spec file are here:
http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/rpms/mplayer/mplayer-0.50.spec
http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/rpms/mplayer/mplayer-0.50-gcc_version_patch
It doesn't not build the GUI by default. There are instructions in the
MPlayer source for doing that, however.
If you have a default redhat rpm setup, put the spec file in:
/usr/src/redhat/SPECS/
The patch and the tar.bz2 file in:
/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/
Run rpm -bb usr/src/redhat/SPECS/mplayer-0.50.spec
Enjoy,
