I should add:
If you use my patch and spec file, that's great. BUT, please do _not_
distribute any rpms you create. The author asks that binaries not be
distributed. Also due to license issues, binary distribution is
prohibited. I created the spec and patch simply to make building and
updating mplayer easier. I prefer managed installations.
The author also does not want bug reports if mplayer is compiled with
gcc-2.96. As I said, I haven't seen any problems, but why annoy him? :)
For the record, gcc-3.0.2 breaks mplayer, and they now recommend gcc-2.95
for building.
- From their website (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/)
It seems there is a bug either in GCC 3.0.2 or our Win32 loader code.
Probably both :) If MPlayer is compiled with GCC 3.0.2 and a Windows
Media Video 8 (WMV2) video is played, it will end with this segfault :
MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: decode_video
Either wait us to find and fix the bug (but if it's gcc's bug it's gonna
be a loong wait:), or downgrade to 2.95 (recommended), or something.
UPDATE: GCC 3.0.3 (confirmed on RedHat 7.2) is affected too.
