Actually,
I thought there was a definite signal change going from show to
commercials and back again - but the problem was that it is often
also there between commercials?
I guess scene changes in movies could trigger an obvious change in
the signal, but I thought that was rare? I guess I'm wrong.
I remember reading something about this a while back regarding set
top boxes and VCR's that would edit out adverts but I can't even
remember if it was a magazine or a newsgroup - and I only ever read
about it the one time.
RE: clicks and pops ...
I've found a few programs that are supposed to do something with
clicks and pops and hiss - but I've never needed them so I've never
tried them out - I think I even downloaded 1 or 2.
Look for sound editors in general then check the options that they
have - there are web sites all about that sort of stuff.
This was with regards to sound editing and removing voice from music.
I ended up writing my own sound editor in Java and gave up on the
voice removal coz the most common method (which you can easily do
with almost any sound program) assumes the voice is mono and eveything
else is stereo (the first is typically rare and the second usually
cuts out enough music to make it sound pretty awful)
