My values on my 1.4Ghz Dell are:
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 0.61 seconds =209.84 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 2.36 seconds = 27.12 MB/sec
The second value is fairly good. We have machines with values as low ad 2-3
MB/sec of disk reads. In my opinion the first value is more realted to the
speed of the processor and the spee4d of the cache. As you can see with a
1.4GHz processor it is much faster than your values.
