I have had the same experience today when trying to install 'rsync'.
Didn't you get the following message (I got it a couple of days ago):

                         --------------------

Dear Customer,

Thank you for using Red Hat Network! We hope you have found Red Hat
Network to be a useful tool for managing your Red Hat Linux system(s).
Red Hat Network is pleased to announce the next level of service in
Red Hat Linux Systems Management: Red Hat Network Workgroup Service.

Some of the new features you will find in Red Hat Network Workgroup
Service are as follows:

=> System Grouping - group systems together in one set so they can be
     administered in common ways

=> System Set Manager - tool used to apply actions to a set of systems
vs. one system at a time

=> Multiple Administrators - allow more than one user to manage
     systems under one account

Annual subscriptions to Red Hat Network Workgroup Service are now
available for $240 per system. To purchase this service, or for more
detailed information about this service, please visit
https://rhn.redhat.com/purchase_info.pxt.

Please note your current level of service (previously known as Red Hat
Network Software Manager) is now known as Red Hat Network Basic Service.
Annual subscriptions for this service are available for $60 per system.

Please visit https://rhn.redhat.com/feature_comparison.pxt to find out
more information about this service and how it compares to the new
Red Hat Network Workgroup Service.

We hope Red Hat Network will continue to simplify your system management
tasks by keeping your systems current and secure.

Thanks again for supporting Red Hat.

                        ---------------------

Things might be changing. If you don't buy support for $60 you only
get very marginal service.

Alexander
