Howdy Alex,
If you use ide  try to have the setup as follows.
First drive ( the one you want to copy )  the primary master  ( /dev/hda 
)
Second drive ( the one you want to copy too )  the secondary master  ( 
/dev/hdc).
I think I might have mislead you a bit though, it is not exactly a mirror 
system ( such as novell's mirroring ) but does create an exact duplicate 
of the first drive.  The drives should be the same as well  ie 2 x 20gig 
or 2x 40gig etc.
You also need to be aware that it takes a goodish time to complete. I run 
it as  acron job in the wee small hours.

I'll try this :). When you say tha drives are on different busses you 
mean thei are on 
different IDE/SCSI ports ? I use IDE in my system ....

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc if using ide.
Note the drive in the ide config are on different buses.
