I have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron running rh7.1 like a champ! I did get
the three year warranty (for about 7% of the purchase price) because,
let's face it, laptops break! However, Dell customer service is excellent
and fast! (My machine has had two problems in two years: hd went bad at
about one year old, tft display went bad at about 1.5 years old). Dell
fixed both problems in one day after the phone call.

Also, as for hardware compatibility, it is hard to beat Dell IMO.
