more or less, yes.
You could start the ntp daemon on all your linux boxes if you
want, I suppose, pointing each at a stratum 1 server. But why.
I run the daemon on my firewall, pulling the time from a
stratum 1 at one of the local universities.
Once your ntpd is synced (could take anywhere between 1 minute
and 1 day, depending on the server your syncing with), you can
use it as time server in your network. Then just call ntpdate
once a day or once a week or whatever, from the other linux
boxes in your net.
Ntpd doesn't seem to ship with man pages, but there's a lot of
info in
/usr/share/doc/ntp-X.X.X
