Toshiba 1605CDS Overheating

I have installed RH 7.2 on my old Toshiba 1605CDS laptop and appear to be having an overheating problem.   The CPU fan only runs during the POST process but does not run thereafter.  I can boot to a DOS floppy and the fan will run fine, but when booted to LINUX it no longer works.  Does anyone know of this problem and/or have a fix for it?  Thanks in advance.
