In the command
/sbin/fdisk -l /dev/sda
the option is the letter "l", not the number "1" You should get something
like
[root@ evans]# /sbin/fdisk -l /dev/sda
Disk /dev/sda: 2 heads, 16 sectors, 247 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 32 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 246 3922+ 1 FAT12

as root, do
cd /mnt
mkdir floppy
then
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/floppy
if it mounts, then it should show up as /sda1 when you do a df
when you plug in the usb drive and power it up, what is the output of the
dmesg command?
I should also tell you that I am far from a linux expert, I have learned
quite a bit about usb drives from mounting my digital camera(s). I am
sorry in advance if my "help" is more frustrating then helpful.
( and I am
sorry for cluttering up the list !!!)
