Setting up a SLIP connection on RH 7.2

I'm attempting to setup a SLIP
connection for our 7.2 machine
(NOT a PPP connection).
I can start up "slattach -s 38400 /dev/ttyS0 &"
but how do I configure the sl0? I can use ifconfig to set
the
IP's and mode, but how do I tie it
to the serial port?
