RE: Linux answer to Exchange

Actually, my input on this is there are several options....

I have been working with this same issue on several of my customers..

I have worked out that a medium solution is the "old" HP Openmail, which
Samsung SDS has purchased and geared directly twoards a lite interface,
but they maintain the MAPI based solution that exchange uses, and does so
very well. It is pretty price heavy, but if its a big exchange cluster
that you are trying to replace, this will save aout 40% over the licensing
costs of exchange.
You can get more information at http://www.samsungcontact.com

BTW,

I know of the oracle solution you are refering too.. I have evaluated
that, and I think I still have a test server with it running on. Oracle's
product wasn't anything other than a replacement for the database in
exchange. It is still over 80% exchange code, and therefore the licensing
is still required. The only advantage is the modular design of the Oracle
database backend. I was very impressed with this integration with a
microsoft product.
anyway, thats my $.02 (more like $5, but still)
