gnome panels doesn't appear upon start up

The gnome panels doesn't appear in my desktop including the standard panel (wid the start menu) at the bottom of the desktop .  I also had a custom panel on the right side of the desktop.... Now both of the panels doesn't appear... why is this? Before I was able to see those panels. Now I can't....  

But when I log-in as  a different user... the panel appears.
