Booting - help needed

Hi! 

After re-installing RH 7.2 I am getting Kernel Panic immideately after "Welcome to Red Hat Linux": 
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer derefernce at virtual address 
00000004 
or 
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address d04efac4 
or 
/etc/rc.sysinit: line 46 : 24 segmentation fault sleep 1 
or 
Killing interupt handler 

I can use "Linux Rescue' option and get a shell, but I don't know what causes the problem and where to fix it.

Could anybody help me. I didn't have any serious problems with Linux so far and now is time to start learning, I think .
