> I had this same problem on a PCCHIPS M810LR motherboard (SIS chipset), when I changed to booting linux from a floppy and using the windows boot loader to load windows (Windows 2000) instead of grub the problem went away. (Although if I use the keyboard poweroff button it still makes me turn of the power manually) I cant remember if I tried lilo, it was particularily annoying as on that machine turning it off meant holding the power button in for 5 seconds !
