Perhaps I also should have mentioned that I am behind another (second)
local firewall so this is really just for learning.
I understand that a firewall is not a firewall unless it is a restricted
link between two seperate networks. (one on eth0, the other on eth1
etc) Thank you for your concern.
Because I enjoy a secure local environment, I plugged both NICs in to
one router for testing. (because I couldn't get a ping response from
eth1 but could from eth0 even when reversing thier roles)
My point was that my /etc/sysconfig/network GATEWAYDEV="eth1" seems to
effect the output of the 'netstat -r' default interface, but does not
seem to effect the origin of a default ping command.(before or after a
network restart or a reboot)
I theorize that this may be a clue about the lack of response from eth1.
Have you any ideas about this?
