Re: Can't boot from bootdisk! Please help!

Hi,

I installed RH 7.3 on my system, and I already have
Win XP installed. The installation went fine, except
for one thing during the partitioning. It said that
the boot partition I created might not work correctly
(I don't remember the exact message) and that I really
should create a boot disk. Fine, I did that.

Now I'm trying to get into RH using the bootdisk I
created, and I get a whole bunch of error messages:

VFS: can't find ext3 filesystem on dev ide0(3,3)
mount: error 22 mounting ext3
pivotroot: pivot_root (/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd)
failed: 2
Freeing unused kernel memory: 280k freed.
Kernal Panic: No init found. Try passing init= option
to kernel.

Is there any way for me to get linux to boot? Can I
use the "linux rescue" option from the installation CD
somehow? I really don't want to format and reinstall
again...

Yes, you should be able to use the rescue mode to save your installation. First, we need some more information. What partitions did you make (/, /boot, /home, etc.), and where are they (/dev/hda3, hda5, etc.)? Are you using RAID or LVM? What size is your disk, and what sizes are your paritions, including the Windows partition?
