Unofficial ext3 patch for 2.4.12

Having gone to the effort of making a current ext3 patch for the
current Linus kernel, I figured I'd save y'all the trouble:

Note that this is an unofficial patch!  No guarantees!  Not
responsible!  But it works for me....
